ShearShare Co-founders Leave Their Legacy at SMU

ShearShare co-founders Dr. Tye and Courney Caldwell visited Southern Methodist University in the heart of Dallas, Texas where a brand new meeting room was named after them at the new Washburne Soccer and Track Stadium. The Wiley Caldwell Family Team Meeting Room represents years of dedication and support that stems from Courtney’s time as a former student and athlete. She understands how important the renovations are to SMU athletes and hopes it ultimately benefits the students that work hard scholastically and athletically.

The Wiley Caldwell Family Team Meeting Room

“The athletics department at SMU holds a very special place in my heart,” said Courtney. “Although it’s been more than 20 years since I’ve set foot on the original track, walking into the new Washburne Soccer & Track Stadium last Friday brought back a flood of beautiful memories. It’s no secret that 94 percent of women who hold C-suite level positions are former athletes. At SMU I definitely honed my ability to push through defeat and setbacks and proved time and again that teamwork is the foundation of success. Because there is an irrefutable correlation between athletics and business accomplishment, I can confidently say that my days as a Mustang student-athlete prepared me for my current role as co-founder of ShearShare. Tye and I are grateful for the opportunity to serve as a model of hope for the next generation and leave a visible legacy of hope for future world changers.”

As ShearShare continues to grow, it is important for us to remember where we came from. We will always represent SMU wherever we go!

ShearShare Awarded at Buffalo Inno’s Inaugural Fire Awards

ShearShare had the pleasure to attend and be honored at Buffalo Inno’s inaugural Fire Award celebration at HANSA Workspace. The event honored startup companies developing innovative products, building Buffalo workforces, and raising funds to make their vision a reality. ShearShare was among nine other companies honored at the event, sponsored by Buffalo Business First, the University at Buffalo, and 43North.

ShearShare is Proud to be a Part of Buffalo’s Resurgence

The event included a fireside chat between Miner and Centivo founder and CEO, Ashok Subramanian, and a red coat ceremony in which all winners received a blazer to symbolize the innovation, growth, and potential their start-ups bring to Western New York (WNY). “As a new member of the Buffalo community, I’m taken aback by the warm response we’ve received in such a short time,” said Dr. Tye Caldwell, ShearShare CEO and the recipient of the award. “ShearShare is proud to be a part of the technology boom and resurgence transpiring in Buffalo and we hope to continue to make our new home proud.”

We are so grateful for the support from Buffalo Inno and the community of start-ups in WNY. We look forward to continuing to establish ShearShare as the premier beauty industry app for all professionals near and far.

Women of WNY Tech Talk

43North hosted a Women of WNY Tech Talk panel that included our co-founder Courtney Caldwell along with other prominent women in the technology industry. The event sought to empower women and provide a glimpse for anyone interested in entering the technology industry. Among the panelists were Renita DiStefano of Seneca Resorts & Casinos, Maura Duggan of ACV Auctions, Latoya Gonzales of M&T Tech, and Molly Hartwig of Tesla.

Women in Tech Get Things Done

The panel discussed the unique challenges they face in the workplace and at home, and celebrated the ingenuity and innovation of women powering Buffalo’s resurgence. During the panel, Courtney discussed ShearShare’s inception and the difficulties that came with forging a path in the technology world. “Things will continue to be the same until you choose to make things different,” said Courtney during the panel. “It took over 100 meetings until we received our first ‘yes’ from an investor, and every single time you have to walk in the room with the same amount of excitement and zeal. Confident that you are about to change the world in hopes that the other person wants to help.”

Hype Hair 30 for 30 Gala

Our very own Courtney Caldwell was an honoree at the 30 for 30 anniversary gala thrown by the revered beauty magazine, Hype Hair. The gala took place in Atlanta, Georgia, and celebrated beauty professionals who continue to inspire and pave the way for the next generations to come. During the event, Courtney took the stage to discuss how ShearShare is changing the game for all beauty industry professionals and doing what we can to empower other small businesses.

A Small Business Empowering Small Businesses

“As the number one hair and beauty magazine for women of color, Hype Hair has inspired millions while setting trends that define the culture,” said Courtney, co-founder of ShearShare. “To be honored this year as a Hype Hair 30 for 30 alongside industry greats underscores ShearShare’s effort to continue that tradition of excellence and innovate for the next generation. We are truly grateful to be recognized as a small business that empowers other small businesses.” We are grateful for Hype Hair’s recognition and hope to continue to pave the way for future beauty professionals to come.
